CHAPTER FIFTEEN

Max didn’t care about anything but Jade’s fingers gripping her hair, lips locked with hers in desperate wanting. She breathed in the soapy clean scent that surrounded them, grateful they’d both had the foresight to wash the performance grime from their bodies before boarding the bus. Not that she’d ever considered this possibility while doing it, at least not as anything but a fantasy as the hot water had rinsed the suds from her skin.

The reality was so much more than Max had ever imagined, teasing the promise of everything she’d ever wanted. Her body burned at every touch.

What the hell are you doing? A small voice inside Max’s head struggled to be heard, even as she fell deeper into Jade’s embrace, her fingers twisting through the woman’s mass of dark curls as they devoured one another with reckless abandon. We shouldn’t do this.

Silencing the voice, Max pressed on. Logic faded against the pure, overwhelming heat of desire. It was Jade who finally broke away, resting her forehead against Max’s, her breath coming in gasps.

“You’re such an idiot,” Jade said. Before Max could respond, Jade was kissing her again, pecking out a staccato rhythm with her lips all over Max’s face. “I’m completely furious with you.”

“Yeah.” Max gulped for air, tilting her head back and sideways to allow better access to her throat and neck. “I can tell.”

This would’ve been the perfect opportunity for Max to pull away, for sanity to be restored. Giving into temptation with Jade was a huge mistake. It only added complications. Max should put a stop to it immediately. Cindy would be beyond pissed at her. Apparently, Jade already was.

But there was no stopping the desire coursing through Max’s body, fueled by the insatiable hunger of Jade’s mouth. As wrong as it was, Jade’s anger was hot as hell. Super fucking hot.

Stop, Max, the voice in her head tried again. Stop it right now!

Max did not stop.

Freeing one hand from a mess of curls, Max’s fingers went to work on the buttons of Jade’s shirt. The small white discs offered little resistance, and the shirt slid off, baring Jade’s smooth, dusky skin. Rounded breasts were nestled in soft, navy blue lace. The anticipation of more spurred Max’s every movement as she trailed her hands along Jade’s narrow waist.

Tell her this is a bad idea.

Max’s thoughts were fuzzy and jumbled, but her traitorous mouth managed to utter, “You’re so fucking beautiful,” right before diving for a taste of exposed flesh as Jade let out a gasping moan.

In other words, the exact opposite of stopping things before they went too far.

“You’re overdressed,” Jade replied, slipping her hands under the hem of Max’s camisole, palms skimming along her ribs until Max lifted her arms and the camisole was pulled up and over.

Goose bumps prickled along her flesh as Jade stared at her greedily. Max reached behind to unhook her bra, letting it fall off. Stepping close, she wrapped her arms around Jade’s shoulders and kissed her again, their fronts pressed tight.
